CBSE stated that compartment exams for classes 10 and 12 will be administered, candidates asked the Supreme Court for involvement. Through a letter petition, as many as 809 candidates from around the nation have urged the SC to take suo moto cognisance of the CBSE decision to conduct the exams.
Citing the nation’s increasing COVID19 cases, the students asked the supreme court to interfere and urged CBSE to hold the decision to conduct the compartment exams in abeyance until the situation stabilises. They have provided details of the Board of Bihar and Telangana, which cancelled the exams due to the epidemic.
The letter request was submitted on behalf of the candidates by Sandeep Saurav, National Secretary General of All India Students Association. Addressing India’s Chief Justice SA Bobde and other top court judges, Saurav outlined the danger to the wellbeing of children, their families as well as instructors and their relatives as coronavirus in the world continues to display ‘exponential growth.’
The letter came days after children on social media networks approached CBSE’s Twitter, urging it to postpone the compartment exams. In an official note to the petitions, CBSE announced that the compartment exams would be undertaken. But CBSE has not published any schedules for the exams yet.
According to a CBSE official, the timetables of the test will be declared after consulting the Ministry of Education and in line with the guidelines of the MHA. Students’ health remains the board’s highest priority- expressed the official.
CBSE announced Class 12 results on July 13 and Class 10 results on July 15, 2020. As many as 1,50,198 students from Class X and 87,651 students from Class XII have been placed for compartment exams. Usually, these exams are administered in the month of July. This year, the dates have not been assigned by the board.
