montessori-school-logoThe Bengaluru-based Freethinking School, that practices the Montessori model, has actually made schooling free by launching the initiative “Freedom from Fee” which runs until March 2021. The offer grants parents the right to pay the fee as per their ability.

The plan is to celebrate Maria Montessori’s 150th birthday on the 31st of August and Independence Day. The program also offers the option to ‘Pay it Forward’ where parents have the ability to help their driver’s or other employees’ children gain early education.

Sandy Philip, school director, said, “In harmony with this spirit of Freedom, the programme is offered absolutely free to frontline Asha workers, nurses and other COVID Warriors for their service to one and all. It has been my dream to take Montessori to the masses. My vision was always to make quality education accessible, reachable and affordable and this helps me achieve that.”

“Montessori at Home” is a monthly membership package intended to cover all five fields of this system – Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural Extensions – from 2.5 to 6 years of age.

Learning from this school, other schools should follow the same, especially keeping in mind the current COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The school sets a good example in the field of education.
